“He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved…” (Mark 16:16)
Dear brothers and sisters!
If you wish to receive the Holy Sacrament of Baptism — the first and most important Sacrament in the life of a Christian — we are glad to welcome you to our cathedral.
Baptism is the beginning of a new life in Christ, entry into the Church, a birth into eternity. It washes away original sin and opens the way to the other Sacraments — Confession, Holy Communion, and Marriage.
What you need to know
- Baptism is performed by prior appointment.
- Catechetical (preparatory) talks are held before the Sacrament of Baptism.
- Adults must personally attend the catechetical talks.
- Children under 7 are baptized according to the faith of their parents and godparents.
- Catechetical talks take place every Sunday at 9:00 in the Sunday school of Saint Alexius Cathedral (please bring a pen and a notebook).
- The talks are led by the catechist Anna, who introduces the participants to the foundations of the faith. A priest then assesses the candidate's readiness and gives the blessing for the Sacrament of Baptism.
- Total number of classes: 10.
Required documents
- Passport (for adults).
- The child's birth certificate.
- A baptismal set: a towel, a baptismal cross, a white shirt or gown.
May the Lord bless you on this important step! ❤️
