Martyr Acutius of Puteoli

Martyr Acutius was a layman imprisoned in the city of Puteoli (modern Pozzuoli, Italy) for confessing Christ even before Hieromartyr Ianuarius, Bishop of Beneventum, arrived there. When the deacon Faustus and reader Desiderius, witnesses to Bishop Ianuarius's torment (thrown into a red-hot furnace and emerging unharmed), themselves confessed to being Christians, they were imprisoned in the same jail where the deacons Proculus and Sossius and the laymen Eutyches and Acutius were already held. All together, around 305, during the persecution of Emperor Diocletian, they suffered martyrdom for Christ.
