Right-believing Prince Alexander of Tver

Right-believing Prince Alexander Mikhailovich of Tver was born in 1301, the son of Hieromartyr Michael Yaroslavich of Tver and Venerable Anna of Kashin. He ruled in Tver (1326–1327, 1338–1339) and was Grand Prince of Vladimir (1326–1327). He led the anti-Horde uprising in Tver in 1327, after whose suppression he was forced to flee to Pskov and then Lithuania. He later returned and obtained the khan's pardon, but in 1339 was summoned to the Horde of Khan Uzbek together with his son Theodore and executed there on 28 October 1339 — like his father, Saint Michael, he suffered a martyr's death rather than compromise his dignity and faith to save his life.
