Apostle of the Seventy Ampliatus, Apostle of the Seventy, Bishop of Diospolis

Holy Apostle of the Seventy Ampliatus is mentioned by the Apostle Paul in the Epistle to the Romans (16:8): "Greet Amplias my beloved in the Lord." He was made Bishop of the city of Diospolis, where he zealously preached the Gospel of Christ, converting pagans to the true faith. He is venerated together with other Apostles of the Seventy — Stachys (Bishop of Byzantium), Urban (bishop in Macedonia), Narcissus (Bishop of Athens), Apelles (Bishop of Heraclea), and Aristobulus (enlightener of Britain) — who received a martyr's death for their preaching at the hands of Jews and pagan Greeks.
