Martyr Antonina of Crodamnae

Martyr Antonina, a virgin, suffered in the city of Crodamnae together with the martyr Alexander in 313. Inspired by Christ, she appeared before the ruler Phistus and confessed her faith; for this both martyrs — Alexander and Antonina — were subjected to cruel execution: their hands were cut off, they were covered with pitch, and thrown into a pit of fire. Their relics were later translated to Constantinople and placed in the Monastery of Maximus. The epithet "of Cremona" in the original card is not confirmed by sources — the correct name, attested by several references, is "of Crodamnae."
