Apostle Erastus of Paneas of the Seventy — treasurer of the Jerusalem church, then bishop of Paneas (Caesarea Philippi) in Palestine; he was granted a peaceful death.
Apostle Erastus of the Seventy was first a deacon and treasurer of the Jerusalem Church (mentioned by Apostle Paul as "the chamberlain of the city" in Romans 16:23), and was then made bishop in Paneas (Caesarea Philippi) in Palestine. Apostle Erastus was granted a peaceful death by the Lord. His memory is kept on November 10/23 together with the Apostles of the Seventy Olympas, Herodion, Sosipater, Quartus, and Tertius, as well as January 4/17 in the Synaxis of the Seventy Apostles.
