Apostle Jason of the Seventy, Bishop of Tarsus and Corfu — a native of Tarsus, a disciple of Apostle Paul, who made him Bishop of Tarsus; together with Apostle Sosipater he preached on the island of Corfu, where he built a church in honor of the Protomartyr Stephen.
Apostle Jason of the Seventy was a native of Tarsus in Cilicia and became a disciple of Apostle Paul, who made him bishop in his home city. In 63, St. Jason together with Apostle Sosipater set out to preach the Gospel to the west and reached the island of Corfu near Greece, where they successfully preached the teaching of Christ, baptized many of the inhabitants, and built a church in honor of the Protomartyr and Archdeacon Stephen. The relics of Apostle Jason rest in a church on the island of Corfu. His memory is kept on April 28/May 11 together with Apostle Sosipater.
