Apostle Onesiphorus

Apostle Onesiphorus of the Seventy — mentioned by Apostle Paul in the Second Epistle to Timothy (1:16-18, 4:19); he repeatedly refreshed the imprisoned Paul and sought him out diligently in Rome, not ashamed of his chains; venerated together with Apostle Evodus.
Apostle Onesiphorus of the Seventy served Philemon, a distinguished resident of Colossae in Phrygia. Apostle Paul testifies about him in the Second Epistle to Timothy: "The Lord give mercy unto the house of Onesiphorus; for he oft refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain: But, when he was in Rome, he sought me out very diligently, and found me" (2 Timothy 1:16-18). The apostle also sends greetings to "the household of Onesiphorus" (2 Timothy 4:19). His memory is kept on September 7/20 together with the Apostle of the Seventy Evodus of Antioch, as well as January 4/17 in the Synaxis of the Seventy Apostles.
