Apostle Parmenas of the Seventy — one of the seven deacons chosen by the Twelve Apostles for table service (Acts 6:5); according to tradition, bishop in Soli, he was martyred.
Apostle Parmenas of the Seventy — one of the seven deacons chosen by the Twelve Apostles for table service (Acts 6:5), together with Stephen, Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, and Nicolas. Parmenas was a faithful servant of the Church, preached the Gospel, and suffered for the faith of Christ. According to tradition, he was bishop in Soli (Cyprus) and was martyred. His memory is kept on July 28/August 10 together with the other deacons, as well as January 4/17 in the Synaxis of the Seventy Apostles.
