Apostle Philologus of the Seventy — mentioned by Apostle Paul in the Epistle to the Romans (16:15) together with his probable spouse Julia; according to tradition, he was made bishop in Sinope.
Apostle Philologus of the Seventy is mentioned by Apostle Paul in the Epistle to the Romans: "Salute Philologus, and Julia, Nereus, and his sister, and Olympas, and all the saints which are with them" (Romans 16:15). According to church tradition, he was made bishop in the city of Sinope (Asia Minor). His memory is kept on November 5/18 together with the Apostles of the Seventy Gaius, Linus, Patrobas, and Hermas, as well as January 4/17 in the Synaxis of the Seventy Apostles.
