Apostle Phlegon of Marathon of the Seventy — mentioned by Apostle Paul in the Epistle to the Romans (16:14); according to tradition, converted by Apostle Paul, he was made Bishop of Phrygian Marathon, where he was martyred.
Apostle Phlegon of the Seventy is mentioned by Apostle Paul in the Epistle to the Romans: "Salute Asyncritus, Phlegon, Hermas, Patrobas, Hermes, and the brethren which are with them" (Romans 16:14). According to church tradition, he was converted to Christianity by Apostle Paul and made Bishop of Phrygian Marathon, where he was martyred. His memory is kept on April 8/21 together with the Apostles of the Seventy Herodion, Agabus, Asyncritus, and Rufus, as well as January 4/17 in the Synaxis of the Seventy Apostles.
