Apostle of the Seventy Trophimus the Ephesian

Apostle Trophimus of Ephesus of the Seventy — a native of Asia Minor, disciple and companion of Apostle Paul on his third missionary journey (Acts 20:4), mentioned in 2 Timothy 4:20; according to tradition, he was beheaded in Rome together with the Apostles Pudens and Aristarchus at the same time as Apostle Paul under Nero.
Apostle Trophimus of the Seventy, a native of Ephesus (Asia Minor), was a disciple and companion of Apostle Paul. The Evangelist Luke reports that during Paul's third missionary journey he was accompanied by the Asians Tychicus and Trophimus (Acts 20:4); the presence of the Gentile Trophimus in the Jerusalem Temple also became grounds for Paul's arrest (Acts 21:29). Apostle Paul mentions him in the Second Epistle to Timothy: "Trophimus have I left at Miletum sick" (2 Timothy 4:20). According to church tradition, Apostle Trophimus, together with the Apostles Pudens and Aristarchus, was martyred in Rome — beheaded by order of Emperor Nero at the same time as Apostle Paul (c. 67 AD). His memory is kept on April 15/28 together with the Apostles Pudens and Aristarchus, as well as January 4/17 in the Synaxis of the Seventy Apostles.
