Apostle Tychicus

Apostle Tychicus of the Seventy — a native of Asia Minor, a close companion and trusted messenger of Apostle Paul (Acts 20:4; Eph. 6:21-22; Col. 4:7-8; 2 Tim. 4:12; Titus 3:12); according to tradition, he was bishop first in Colophon and later in Chalcedon.
Apostle Tychicus of the Seventy, a native of Asia Minor, accompanied Apostle Paul on his third missionary journey (Acts 20:4) and repeatedly served as his trusted messenger: he was sent with the Epistle to the Ephesians ("that ye also may know my affairs... Tychicus shall declare all things to you," Eph. 6:21-22) and the Epistle to the Colossians (Col. 4:7-8), and is also mentioned in 2 Timothy (2 Tim. 4:12) and in the Epistle to Titus, where Paul writes of his intention to send either Tychicus or Artemas to him (Titus 3:12). According to church tradition, he was made bishop first in the city of Colophon (Asia Minor), and later in Chalcedon, where he ended his days peacefully. His memory is kept on April 12/25, as well as January 4/17 in the Synaxis of the Seventy Apostles.
