Venerable Aristoclius, born Alexei Alexeyevich Amvrosiev, was born in 1846 in Orenburg. He took monastic vows on Mount Athos, at the Russian St. Panteleimon Monastery. He was sent to serve as rector of the St. Panteleimon Monastery's metochion in Moscow, where he ministered until his death. He became renowned for his gift of clairvoyance, numerous cases of healing, and profound spiritual guidance, drawing thousands of pilgrims from all over Russia. He was distinguished by exceptional humility and non-acquisitiveness, giving away everything he received to those in need. He reposed peacefully in 1918. On September 6, 2004, he was glorified among the locally-venerated saints of Moscow and the Moscow diocese; the rite of canonization was performed by Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Russia in the Dormition Cathedral of the Kremlin. His memory is kept on August 24/September 6 (day of repose).
