Hieromartyr Azadan (Aza) of Persia, deacon — martyred together with the presbyter James and the deacon Abdiechus during the persecutions of the Persian King Shapur II around 380 AD.
Hieromartyr Azadan (Aza), a deacon, was martyred for Christ in Persia together with the presbyter James and the deacon Abdiechus during the reign of King Shapur II, around 380 AD. The saints were seized together with Bishop Akepsimas, were long starved in prison, then had mustard mixed with vinegar placed in their nostrils, were stripped naked and hung out in the frost for the whole night. In the morning, after further torments, they were returned to prison and beheaded. Their memory is kept on April 10/23 and April 17/30.
