Hieromartyr

Hieromartyr Benjamin Of Persia

†ок. 421-424

Hieromartyr Benjamin of Persia, deacon — converted many Persian pagans to Christianity; during the persecutions of Shahanshah Yazdegerd I he spent two years in prison, and after his release continued preaching, for which he was subjected to cruel torture and executed.

Hieromartyr Benjamin was a deacon and zealous preacher of Christianity in Persia, converting many pagan Persians to Christ. During the persecution of Christians raised by Shahanshah Yazdegerd I (reigned 399-421), he was seized and spent two years in prison. At the intercession of a Roman ambassador, he was released on condition that he cease preaching among the Persians, but Benjamin, faithful to his calling, could not remain silent about Christ and continued his evangelism. For this he was seized again and, after cruel torture, put to a painful death around 421-424. His memory is kept on April 13 and October 26.
