Blessed Isidore Tverdislov, Wonderworker of Rostov, Fool for Christ — a native of the environs of Brandenburg from a Slavic Catholic family; upon converting to Orthodoxy, he walked to Rostov the Great, where he took up the feat of foolishness and was granted by God the gift of wonderworking and clairvoyance; he was nicknamed "Tverdislov" ("True-Word") for his predictions, which always came true. He died on May 14, 1474.
Blessed Isidore was born in the environs of the city of Brandenburg to a Slavic family of the Catholic faith. Having taken up the feat of foolishness for Christ, he walked all the way to Rostov the Great and, having come to love the city for its beauty, remained to live there, converting to Orthodoxy. He spent his days enduring the sorrows that befell him and his nights in prayer; even during his lifetime he was granted by God the gift of wonderworking and clairvoyance. He was known for his predictions, which always came true, earning him the nickname "Tverdislov" ("True-Word"). He died on May 14, 1474, in Rostov. Veneration of Blessed Isidore as a wonderworker of Rostov began already in the 15th century, shortly after his death. His memory is kept on May 14/27 with a doxology service.
