Blessed Pelagia of Diveyevo (Serebrennikova)

Blessed Pelagia of Diveyevo (Pelagia Ivanovna Serebrennikova, †1884) — one of the first and best-known blessed elder-women of the Seraphim-Diveyevo Convent, predecessor of Parasceva (Pasha) of Sarov and Maria (Fedina) in the line of Diveyevo holy fools; she possessed the gift of clairvoyance and spiritual discernment.

Blessed Pelagia, born Pelagia Ivanovna Serebrennikova, took up the feat of foolishness for Christ's sake at the Seraphim-Diveyevo Convent, becoming one of the first in the famous line of Diveyevo blessed elder-women (followed by Parasceva/Pasha of Sarov and Maria Ivanova/Fedina). She possessed the gift of clairvoyance and spiritual discernment, and the convent's sisters and pilgrims sought her counsel. She died on January 30, 1884. Her memory is kept on the day of her repose, January 30/February 12, and also on June 14/27 within the Synaxis of Diveyevo Saints.
