Martyr Candida of Carthage, Virgin — suffered for Christ in Carthage (North Africa) during the persecution of Emperor Maximian Herculeus around 300; she was scourged and endured a martyric death.
Martyr Candida, a virgin-ascetic from Carthage (North Africa), suffered for confessing the Christian faith during the persecution of Emperor Maximian Herculeus around 300. According to ancient accounts, her entire body was lacerated with whips, after which she was crowned with martyrdom. She is venerated in the Eastern Church alongside a number of other early Christian martyrs of Carthage. Her memory is kept on September 20.
