Venerable Nectarius of the Caves, the Obedient

Venerable Nectarius of the Caves, nicknamed the Obedient (12th c.) — a monk of the Near (Anthony's) Caves who, for his unquestioning obedience to the elder brethren and diligence in labor, was called the Obedient; he reposed peacefully and is buried in the Near Caves.

Venerable Nectarius labored at the Kiev Caves Monastery in the 12th century. For his unquestioning obedience to the elder brethren and diligence in labor, he was nicknamed the Obedient. After many labors and ascetic feats, he reposed peacefully in the Lord and was buried in the Near (Anthony's) Caves of the Lavra. His memory is kept on November 29/December 12, and also on September 28/October 11 within the Synaxis of the Fathers of the Near Caves.
