Venerable
Venerable Pimen the Faster of the Kiev Caves
XI век — †после 1114
Venerable Pimen the Faster of the Kiev Caves (11th c., d. after 1114) — a monk of the Near Caves and fellow ascetic of the Hieromartyr Kuksha of the Caves; he fasted strictly and, for his many labors, was granted by God the gift of healing and clairvoyance; he foresaw and announced to the brethren the murder of Kuksha, who was far away, and reposed on the same day.
Venerable Pimen, nicknamed the Faster, labored in the Near Caves of the Kiev Caves Monastery, being a fellow ascetic of the Hieromartyr Kuksha of the Caves. According to the Kiev Caves Paterikon, blessed Pimen fasted strictly and, for his many labors and ascetic feats, was granted by God the gift of healing the sick and foreseeing the future. Foreseeing in spirit the murder of the Hieromartyr Kuksha, who was at that time far from the monastery, Venerable Pimen cried out loudly in the Caves church: "Our brother Kuksha has been killed this day" — and, having said this, reposed in the Lord on the same day as St. Kuksha and his disciple. The relics of Venerable Pimen rest in the Near Caves. His memory is kept on August 27/September 9.
