Martyr Domninus of Thessalonica

Martyr Domninus of Thessalonica — a native of Thessalonica, he was seized as a Christian preaching the word of God during the reign of Emperor Maximian Galerius, who was building himself a palace in Thessalonica at the time; for refusing to offer sacrifice to idols he was tortured, and then, for his unwavering faith, was led outside the city, where his legs were cut off at the knees.
Martyr Domninus was born in the city of Thessalonica (present-day Thessaloniki, Greece). During the reign of Emperor Maximian Galerius, who was at that time building himself a palace in Thessalonica, St. Domninus was seized as a Christian who openly preached the word of God among his fellow citizens, and was brought to trial before the emperor. For refusing to offer sacrifice to pagan idols he was subjected to torture, but seeing the saint's unwavering confession of faith, the emperor ordered him to be led outside the city and his legs cut off at the knees, from which the martyr died. His memory is kept on October 1/14.
