Venerable Helladius of the Kiev Caves, Recluse — a monk of the Kiev Caves Monastery who labored in seclusion in the Near (Anthony's) Caves; details of his life have not survived, but ancient sources call him a faster and wonderworker; his relics rest under the altar in the Near Caves.
Venerable Helladius labored in the Kiev Caves Monastery, withdrawing into seclusion for solitary prayer in the Near (Anthony's) Caves. Detailed information about his life has not survived to our time. The first known mention of him appears in the "Teraturgima" of the cathedral hieromonk Athanasius Kalnofoysky (1638), where he is called a faster and wonderworker. In subsequent centuries, tradition attached to him primarily the designation "recluse" (already referred to this way by 1702). The relics of Venerable Helladius rest under the altar in the Near Caves of the Kiev Caves Lavra. His memory is kept on October 4/17, as well as in the Synaxis of the Venerable Fathers of the Kiev Caves Resting in the Near Caves (September 28/October 11).
