Hieromartyr Hermaeus the Presbyter (Nicander and Hermaeus)

Hieromartyr Hermaeus the presbyter — together with Hieromartyr Nicander, Bishop of Myra, he was a disciple of the Apostle of the Seventy Titus, companion and fellow laborer of the Apostle Paul, who ordained him to holy orders; for his zealous preaching, which converted many pagans to Christ, he was seized by the governor Libanius, endured torture, and suffered a martyr's death.
Hieromartyrs Nicander, Bishop of Myra, and Hermaeus the presbyter were disciples of the Apostle of the Seventy Titus — companion and fellow laborer of the chief Apostle Paul, who ordained them to holy orders. Laboring tirelessly in pastoral ministry, Sts. Nicander and Hermaeus converted many pagans to Christ. For this they were seized and brought to trial before the city governor Libanius. Neither persuasion nor threats from the authorities could induce the holy martyrs to renounce Christ, after which Libanius ordered them tortured and then put to death. Their memory is kept on November 4/17.
