Hieromartyr Timothy, Bishop of Prusa — renowned for the gift of wonderworking, he converted many pagans in Prusa of Bithynia; during the persecution of Emperor Julian the Apostate he continued to preach Christ from prison despite the emperor's direct prohibition, for which he was beheaded.
Hieromartyr Timothy was bishop of the city of Prusa in Bithynia (Asia Minor, modern Bursa, Turkey). He became renowned for the holiness of his life and the gift of wonderworking, converting many pagans to Christ.
During the persecution of Emperor Julian the Apostate (r. 361-363) he was imprisoned for preaching Christianity, but continued to proclaim the Christian faith even from confinement. When the emperor explicitly forbade him from teaching about the name of Jesus Christ, the hierarch defied the prohibition and continued to spread the faith — for this Julian ordered him beheaded. His relics were later translated to Constantinople.
