Synaxis of Karelian Saints — a joint commemoration of the ascetics who shone forth in the Karelian (Olonets) region — Venerables Alexander of Svir, Sergius and Herman of Valaam, Arsenius of Konevets, Trifon of Pechenga, and others; established by decision of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church in 2004.
The Synaxis of Karelian Saints is a joint commemoration of the ascetics of piety whose service or monastic labors are connected with the Karelian (Olonets) land — among them Venerables Alexander of Svir, Sergius and Herman of Valaam, Arsenius of Konevets, Trifon of Pechenga, Cyril of Chelmogorsk, and other "Wonderworkers of Olonets." The Synaxis was established by decision of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church in 2004. In the Finnish Orthodox Church, the memory of the Karelian (Valaam) saints, evacuated from the monastery's former territories, is kept on the Saturday between October 18/31 and October 24/November 6.
