Synaxis of Kazan Saints — a joint commemoration of the saints who shone forth in the Kazan land — Hierarchs Gury and Varsonofy of Kazan, Hieromartyr Hermogenes, Patriarch of Moscow, Venerable Herman of Kazan, Martyrs Peter and Stephen of Kazan, and others; established in 1984 on the initiative of Bishop Panteleimon (Mitryukovsky) of Kazan and Mari El, kept on the day of the uncovering of the relics of Hierarchs Gury and Varsonofy.
The Synaxis of Kazan Saints is a joint commemoration of the ascetics whose service or ascetic labor is connected with the Kazan land: Hierarchs Gury (the first Archbishop of Kazan) and Varsonofy of Kazan, Hieromartyr Hermogenes, Patriarch of Moscow (while Metropolitan of Kazan), Venerable Herman of Kazan, Martyrs Peter and Stephen of Kazan, Righteous Abraham of Bulgar, and other saints of this land.
The Synaxis was established in 1984 on the initiative of Bishop Panteleimon (Mitryukovsky) of Kazan and Mari El, and is kept on the feast of the uncovering of the relics of Hierarchs Gury and Varsonofy — October 4/17.
