Forefather Kenan

Forefather Kenan was the son of Enosh, grandson of Seth, and father of Mahalalel — the fourth generation of Adam's descendants in the genealogy set out in Genesis chapter 5 (Gen. 5:9-14). According to the Masoretic text he was born in the year 325 from creation (per the Septuagint, 625) and lived a total of 910 years.

In the Gospel of Luke (3:37) he is named in Christ's genealogy in the flesh. Scripture preserves no deeds of his own beyond the genealogy; non-canonical sources (the Book of Jubilees) name his wife as Mualelet.

He has no separate individual feast day — he is commemorated, like the other antediluvian patriarchs (Adam, Seth, Enosh, Kenan, Mahalalel, Jared, Enoch, Methuselah, Lamech, Noah), on the movable Sunday of the Holy Forefathers (the second Sunday before Nativity).

IMPORTANT CORRECTIONS: category righteous→forefather (by analogy with the already-corrected entries for other antediluvian patriarchs — Enosh, Jared). The fabricated commemoration "on Cheesefare Wednesday" has been removed, as it is not confirmed by any source — the same erroneous pattern already found for several other Old Testament righteous ones in this project. Also removed is the unsupported etymology of his name ("smith" or "creator") — sources do not confirm this reading for Kenan (possibly confused with the name Cain, or with Tubal-Cain the smith); life_years_display has been corrected from the nonsensical "1st–15th century" to the correct "910 years" per the text of Genesis.
