Martyr Alexandra of Ancyra

Martyr Alexandra was one of seven virgins — Tecusa, Faina, Claudia, Matrona, Julia, Alexandra, and Euphrasia — who lived in the second half of the 3rd century in the city of Ancyra in Galatia. Having consecrated themselves to God from their youth, they lived in constant prayer, fasting, abstinence, and good works, reaching old age. Brought to trial before the ruler Theotecnus as Christians, the holy virgins bravely confessed their faith in Christ and were subjected to cruel torture, but remained unshaken. They suffered together with Martyr Theodotus of Ancyra, the innkeeper, in the early 4th century during the persecution of Emperor Diocletian.
