Martyr Auctus of Amphipolis

Martyrs Auctus and Taurion suffered together with the martyr Thessalonica, daughter of a pagan priest in Amphipolis, Macedonia. When her father learned she had become a Christian, he beat her savagely and cast her out of the house without means of support.

Auctus and Taurion intervened on her behalf and tried to reason with her embittered father, who then denounced them to the authorities. They were tortured brutally — stoned, thrown into fire, and finally bound together and cast into a lake, from which they emerged unharmed — before being beheaded.

Auctus was buried with honor in Amphipolis alongside Taurion and Thessalonica, who also died from torments suffered for confessing Christ.

His feast is kept on November 7/20.
