Martyr
Martyr Constantine the Hagarene of Athos
† 1819
Also known as: Константин Сарацинский
New Martyr of Athos, a convert from Islam (Hagarene/Saracen) to Christ; martyred by the Turks in 1819.
Martyr Constantine the Hagarene (i.e., one who came from Muslims, "sons of Hagar," hence the synonymous epithet "Saracen") converted to Christ from Islam and accepted Christianity. For apostasy from the Muhammadan faith, he was seized by the Turkish authorities and suffered martyrdom on the Holy Mountain of Athos in 1819, joining the ranks of the New Martyrs of Athos who suffered under Turkish rule in the 18th–19th centuries.
