Martyr Indes of Nicomedia — a court eunuch, baptized together with Martyr Domna by Hieromartyr Anthimus of Nicomedia, drowned with a millstone tied to his neck during the persecution of Emperor Diocletian.
Martyr Indes was a court eunuch in the imperial palace of Nicomedia, baptized together with Domna (see the separate, fully developed entry martyr_domna_of_nicomedia) by Hieromartyr Anthimus, Bishop of Nicomedia, during the persecution of Emperor Diocletian.
Seized together with other Christian courtiers, he was drowned in the sea with a millstone tied to his neck around 302; his body was later found by fishermen and buried by Martyr Domna, for which she herself was subsequently martyred.
His feast is kept on December 28/January 10, and also September 3/16.
HONEST CAVEAT: no independent narrative of Indes survives apart from Domna's own hagiography — all information about him is inseparable from her story; the biography is deliberately kept brief rather than padded with invented detail.
