Apostle of the Seventy Mark of Apollonias — bishop of Apollonias in Bithynia, one of the seventy disciples of Christ; no detailed biography has survived.
The Apostle of the Seventy Mark is venerated by the Church as bishop of the city of Apollonias in Bithynia (a region in northwestern Asia Minor) — one of the seventy closest disciples sent by the Lord Jesus Christ to preach (Luke 10:1).
IMPORTANT NOTE: no detailed biography survives — sources are limited to his name, see, and feast day, which is typical for many of the Seventy Apostles. This saint is NOT connected to the martyr group of Apollonia in Macedonia (Felix, Isaurus, Innocent, Hermias, Basil, Peregrinus, Rufus, and Rufinus, already documented in our database as martyr_felix) — these are two different cities with similar names (Apollonias in Bithynia vs. Apollonia in Macedonia) and two entirely unrelated traditions, separated by nearly three centuries.
His feast is kept on October 30/November 12.
