Manuscript tradition preserves variant spellings of his name (Ireus, Calliopa, Niro), reflecting the instability of the text of his Life already in the Byzantine era. No other reliable details of his life have survived.
IMPORTANT NOTE: the image previously used for this entry (a photograph of the constellation Orion with the English caption "Orion") was clear contamination from a name coincidence with the astronomical object and has no connection to the saint; the image has been removed without replacement due to the absence of any reliably inscribed image.
His feast is kept on November 10/23.
