Hieromartyr Thallus of Laodicea — a presbyter, stoned (unharmed) and crucified together with his brother-priest Trophimus under Emperors Diocletian/Maximian around 300.
Hieromartyr Thallus was a presbyter, a native of Stratonicea, who served together with his spiritual brother, the presbyter Trophimus, in the city of Laodicea in Caria. Under Emperors Diocletian and Maximian (c. 300), both were brought to trial before the governor Asclepiodotus for confessing Christ.
By the governor's order they were first stoned, but tradition holds the thrown stones rebounded and struck the throwers themselves, leaving the saints unharmed. Unable to break their resolve, the authorities crucified both of them, and so they gave up their souls to God.
Their feast is kept on March 16/29, and also on the 5th Sunday of Great Lent according to synaxarion tradition.
