Saint Martyr Theophilus suffered in Lycia (Asia Minor) together with Martyr Trophimus and 13 other companions under Emperor Diocletian (284–305). Their leg bones were broken, they were thrown into fire from which they emerged unharmed, and they were finally beheaded.
His feast is kept on July 23/August 5.
