Martyr Zoilus of Córdoba — a Hispano-Roman martyr of the Diocletianic era; included in general ROC veneration by Synodal decision in 2018 as part of the Synaxis of Spanish and Portuguese Saints.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Saint Zoilus of Córdoba is a saint of Western, Hispano-Roman origin, not included in classical Byzantine and Slavic calendars (no dedicated article exists in the Orthodox Encyclopedia or ancient Russian calendars). His genuine, current general-church veneration by the Russian Orthodox Church was established relatively recently — by decision of the Holy Synod on December 28, 2018, which received pre-Schism Western saints, including Zoilus, into the newly established "Synaxis of Spanish and Portuguese Saints." This is not a database error but a reflection of genuine, current ROC practice.
Saint Martyr Zoilus suffered in Córdoba (Spain) around 304 under Emperor Diocletian. No detailed biography survives — sources are limited to his name, place, and approximate date of death, typical of many pre-Schism Western martyrs whose veneration was transmitted by local communities without a developed hagiographic tradition.
His feast is kept on June 27.
