Martyrs Vincent and Orontius — brothers from Cimiez (Gaul), with their companion Victor, who preached in the Pyrenees and were executed under Emperor Diocletian around 305.
IMPORTANT NOTE: this group should be clearly distinguished from the much better-known Hieromartyr Vincent of Saragossa, a deacon martyred in Spain in 304 (feast November 11 in Orthodox tradition) — despite the shared name "Vincent" and the proximity of dates, sources establish no connection between them; these are two separate traditions distinguished only by a coincidental name match.
Saints Vincent and Orontius, brothers from Cimiez (near modern Nice, Gaul), preached the Gospel in the Pyrenees mountains. Together with their companion Victor, they were martyred at Puigcerdà (on the modern France-Spain border, in the Pyrenees) during the persecution of Emperor Diocletian around 305.
Their relics were later honorably enshrined at Embrun (France), in a sanctuary built by St. Palladius of Embrun.
Their feast is kept on January 22.
