Patriarch of Constantinople (536–552) under Emperor Justinian I; before his election he was a presbyter and overseer of the hospice of Venerable Sampson the Hospitable.

Hierarch Mennas was a presbyter in Constantinople and overseer of the hospice of Venerable Sampson the Hospitable during the reign of Emperor Justinian I (527–565). In 536 he was elevated to the patriarchal See of Constantinople, which he held until his death in 552. He governed the Church during a difficult period of struggle against the Monophysite heresy.
