Venerable Methodius of Peshnosha

Venerable Methodius of Peshnosha — a disciple of St. Sergius of Radonezh who founded the Nikolo-Peshnoshsky Monastery on the Yakhroma River, personally carrying timber across the river on foot to build it.
IMPORTANT CORRECTION: the category has been corrected from "righteous" to "venerable."
Venerable Methodius was a disciple of St. Sergius of Radonezh and, with his blessing, withdrew to a wilderness spot on the Yakhroma River, where with his own hands — "on foot" (пеш), wading across the river — he carried timber to build a church and cells, from which the site and the later monastery took the name Peshnosha/Peshnoshsky.
St. Sergius visited him there for spiritual conversation; the site of their meetings became known as "Beseda." In 1391 Methodius became abbot of the Nikolo-Peshnoshsky Monastery he had founded.
He died in 1392; he was glorified in 1549. His feast is kept on June 4/17.
