Right-Believing Right-Believing Prince Theodore Ivanovich of Starodub

Theodore Ivanovich ruled the small appanage of Starodub (on the Klyazma River) from 1315 to 1330. He was martyred in the Golden Horde under Khan Uzbek in 1330 (by hagiographic tradition, June 23) — per one account, slandered by rivals before the khan; by tradition his body was dismembered by the Horde. His relics are venerated in the village of Aleksino, especially renowned for healings of eye ailments. His feast is celebrated July 4.
