The Synaxis of Ryazan Saints is a collective commemoration of saints who shone forth on Ryazan soil. Established January 12, 1987 by Archbishop Simon (Novikov) with Patriarch Pimen's blessing; the date (June 10/23) marks the uncovering of St. Basil of Ryazan's relics.
Includes Right-Believing Prince Roman of Ryazan (martyred in the Horde, 1270), Hierarch Basil of Ryazan, Peter and Fevronia of Murom, Passion-bearers Boris and Gleb, Venerable Ilya of Murom, 20th-century new martyrs of the Ryazan land, and other local ascetics. The roster was expanded by Synod decree on May 16, 2023.
