Martyr Martyr Asterius of Cilicia

†285

Also known as: брат мчч. Клавдия, Неона и Феонии

Martyr Asterius of Cilicia — one of four siblings (Claudius, Asterius, Neon, Theonilla) martyred under Emperor Diocletian.

Martyr Asterius of Cilicia was one of four children of a single family (brothers Claudius, Asterius, and Neon, and sister Theonilla) who suffered for Christ in Cilicia (Asia Minor) under Emperor Diocletian around 285 AD. Their account survives in a miniature from the Menologion of Emperor Basil II (985 AD, Vatican Library).

Refusing to sacrifice to the pagan gods, all four were subjected to cruel torments and executed. They are venerated together as an example of family martyrdom for the faith. Their feast is kept October 29/November 11.
