Martyr Stratonice

According to Greek Synaxarion tradition, the martyr Stratonice (Stratonika) married the martyr Seleucus in her youth. When Seleucus was ordered to renounce Christ, he firmly refused, and — determined not to be parted — the couple accepted martyrdom together: according to their Life, both were thrown to wild beasts in Galatia (Asia Minor) in the 3rd century, during a period of persecution of Christians. Church tradition groups their commemoration with several other martyrs whose stories are otherwise unconnected to theirs: the martyr Stratonicus of Nicomedia and the martyrs Kronid, Leontius, and Serapion of Alexandria. All are traditionally commemorated together on October 31/November 13. This date and the underlying hagiography belong to the Greek Synaxarion tradition and, per reference sources, are not included in the current liturgical calendar of the Russian Orthodox Church. No connection was found between the martyr Stratonice and any saint named Mark — this appears to be unrelated slug noise.
