Patriarch of Alexandria (380–385), disciple of Saint Athanasius the Great, brother of Peter II, a participant of the Second Ecumenical Council.
Hierarch Timothy was a disciple of Saint Athanasius the Great and the own brother of Peter II of Alexandria, after whom he was elected to the See of Alexandria in 380. He took part in the Second Ecumenical Council in Constantinople (381), proclaiming the consubstantiality of the Holy Trinity and defending Orthodox teaching on the Holy Spirit against the Pneumatomachian (Macedonian) heresy. He died in 385.
