Venerable Venerable Titus the Wonderworker

Venerable Titus the Wonderworker lived in the 9th century and labored in the renowned Studion Monastery near Constantinople. From his youth he loved the Lord, renounced worldly vanity, and entered the monastery, rising from novice to monk. Through ascetic labors, purity of life, and a gentle disposition he earned the love of the brotherhood, at whose request he was ordained a priest. Ardent faith moved him to courageously defend the Orthodox veneration of holy icons during the repeated waves of iconoclast persecution, and he proved himself a firm and unwavering confessor of the faith. For his virtuous life God granted him the gift of wonderworking, from which he received the epithet "the Wonderworker." He reposed in advanced old age, leaving his disciples a model of true monastic life.
