Synaxis Synaxis of Tver Saints

The Synaxis of Tver Saints commemorates the holy men and women who labored in the Tver land. The feast was established in 1979 with the blessing of Patriarch Pimen of Moscow, after Archbishop Alexiy (Konoplev) of Kalinin and Kashin compiled a joint service and petitioned for a common commemoration. The feast is movable, falling on the first Sunday after the feast of Apostles Peter and Paul (29 June/12 July Old Style), tied to the movable commemoration of St. Arseny of Tver. The synaxis includes more than 40 saints of the pre-Mongol and Muscovite periods — most notably the holy Prince Michael of Tver and Blessed Princess Anna of Kashin — together with over a hundred New Martyrs and Confessors of the 20th century connected to Tver, including Hieromartyr Thaddeus (Uspensky), Archbishop of Tver.
