Venerable Eupraxia the Younger of Constantinople and Tabennisi

Saint Eupraxia of Constantinople and Tabennisi, called "the Younger" to distinguish her from her mother of the same name, was born in the late 4th century, daughter of the Constantinopolitan nobleman Antigonus, a relative of Emperor Theodosius the Great. After her father's death, her mother distributed their wealth to the poor and withdrew with her to Egypt's Thebaid, visiting women's monasteries. Not yet seven, the girl begged to remain at the Tabennisi convent under Abbess Theodula. Despite her youth she embraced the hardest labors, kept a strict weekly fast, and lived an austere ascetic life, receiving from God the gift of healing the possessed, deaf, and mute. Before the abbess's death it was revealed that Eupraxia would inherit the Kingdom of Heaven. She reposed peacefully in 413 at age thirty.
