Venerable Helena Diveevo

Venerable Elena of Diveyevo (Manturova) — sister of Michael Manturov, spiritual companion of St. Seraphim of Sarov, a nun of the Diveyevo Convent noted for deep obedience and prayerful asceticism; she died at age 27.
Venerable Elena Vasilyevna Manturova was born in 1805 into a noble family. With the blessing of St. Seraphim of Sarov, she entered the Diveyevo Convent, where she carried out her obediences with exceptional humility and diligence. According to tradition, Elder Seraphim once asked her to accept an imminent death in place of her brother Michael Manturov, for whose sake she sacrificed herself out of obedience and love. She died in 1832 at the age of 27. She is venerated in the Synaxis of the Saints of Diveyevo and the Synaxis of the Saints of the Nizhny Novgorod Metropolis.
