Hierarch

Hierarch Vitalian of Osimo

VIII в. — 776 (по преданию)

St. Vitalian of Osimo (d. 776, traditionally) — bishop of Osimo in the Ancona region, who governed the see for over 33 years.

St. Vitalian of Osimo was bishop of the city of Osimo in the Ancona region of Italy, attested from 743 and holding the see for over thirty-three years. He built and restored the city's cathedral, dedicated to St. Leopardus of Osimo, the first bishop of that see, where he was himself buried. No further details of his life survive in the sources. In 1755 the municipal council of Osimo formally declared him the city's patron saint. He is a figure distinct from St. Vitalian of Capua.
